Today we went to the Louvre! It's so big!! We got there, and first went in the Egyptian exhibits. They had some really cool stuff in there! They had cloths from I don't know when...a while ago. It was all mind-blowing! But that was just the beginning...Next we went to see all the paintings. On our way we walked through some rooms that just took your breath away. The ceilings were high and all painted with detail beyond belief! One was the queens bedroom I think, and it had an alcove for a bed. It all had carvings and gold paint. We finally got to the paintings, and then we saw the Mona Lisa. It was amazing, but small! In front of all the other paintings there was just a rope on the floor, and nothing really keeping you from touching them. But with the Mona Lisa, There were security guards in silk suits on each side, she was behind at least one layer of glass, and you couldn't even dream of being close enough to touch her.
We had lunch, then saw some sculptures. Then we decided we had had enough of the Louvre for one afternoon, we will come back later! My favorite thing that we saw in the Louvre was The Winged Victory. I love how her clothes flow around her as if the wind is blowing. It's truly amazing!
Anyways, we decided to go to the L'Orangerie -- more museums...Yay... :) So we walked through the Tuleries (it was the perfect afternoon to do so) And when we came to the L'Orangerie they were closed. Oh well! I can't wait to actually go inside....
It was a great day!! Here are some photos:
